CHENNAI: A five-day media tour organised by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Srinagar Region for journalists from Kashmir commenced on Sunday with the arrival of a 13-member delegation in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
The delegation comprises 11 journalists and two officials and is led by Shahid Mohammad Lone, Field Publicity Officer of the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), who is serving as the conducting officer. Information Assistant Ifham Ul Islam of PIB Srinagar is also accompanying the group.
Officials of PIB Chennai welcomed the delegation at Chennai International Airport upon its arrival.
According to organisers, the tour aims to provide journalists with first-hand exposure to key Central Government institutions, projects and initiatives and to enhance their understanding of the implementation of national policies at the ground level.
During the visit, the delegation is scheduled to tour various Central Government establishments and projects in Chennai and interact with senior officials to gain insights into their functioning and operations.
Ahead of the tour, PIB Srinagar Director Qazi Salman briefed the participants and said the programme would provide opportunities for professional engagement and a better understanding of the functioning of Central Government institutions.
