JAMMU: Leader of Opposition in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Sunil Sharma on Thursday held a public outreach programme in Jammu, where delegations representing various sections of society raised issues related to employment, business, infrastructure and welfare.
The programme, held at the Jammu Convention Centre, was attended by BJP legislators Sham Lal Sharma, Choudhary Vikram Randhawa, Yudhvir Sethi, Arvind Gupta, Dr Rajeev Bhagat, Mohan Lal Bhagat and Surinder Bhagat.
According to a BJP statement, delegations from the Chamber of Commerce, Traders Federation, National Health Mission (NHM) employees, daily wagers, OBC groups, transporters, industrial bodies, junior pharmacists, farmers, sports associations, PoJK refugees, Citizen Cooperative Bank, Kashmiri Pandits, Anganwadi workers, ASHA workers, Mid-Day Meal workers, hoteliers and tourism stakeholders, among others, participated in the interaction.
The delegations apprised the Leader of Opposition and BJP legislators of their grievances and pending demands concerning livelihoods, employment and development-related issues.
Sharma said the concerns raised by the delegations would be taken up with the relevant authorities and assured participants that issues affecting the public would be raised during the forthcoming Assembly session.
Addressing the gathering, Sharma criticised the National Conference-led government, alleging that several concerns of employees, traders, farmers, youth, refugees and transporters remained unresolved.
He said the Bharatiya Janata Party would continue to raise public issues both inside and outside the Legislative Assembly and described the outreach programme as an effort to ensure that concerns of different sections of society reach decision-makers.
The BJP leader said party legislators would continue engaging with the public and pursuing issues related to development, governance and welfare in Jammu and Kashmir.
