SRINAGAR: Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Chanchal Kumar, on Thursday reviewed the functioning of the Ministry’s media units in Srinagar and called for enhanced digital outreach, stronger audience engagement and improved coordination among various platforms.
The review meeting was held at Doordarshan Kendra (DDK) Srinagar and attended by representatives of Doordarshan, Akashvani, Press Information Bureau (PIB) and Central Bureau of Communication (CBC).
During the meeting, the Secretary reviewed news and programme content produced by Akashvani and Doordarshan, as well as outreach campaigns undertaken by PIB and CBC. Officials said he expressed satisfaction over the overall functioning of the media units.
Emphasising the growing importance of digital communication, Kumar stressed the need to strengthen social media presence and audience engagement, particularly on Instagram. He also called for the creation of more engaging and audience-friendly video content for digital platforms.
The Secretary directed the media units to intensify awareness campaigns under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan and strengthen Swachhata-related messaging through news broadcasts, programmes, social media content and public outreach activities.
He also underscored the need for better coordination and synchronisation among Doordarshan, Akashvani, PIB and CBC to ensure effective dissemination of information and wider public outreach.
The meeting was attended by heads and senior officials of the four media organisations, along with other officers and staff associated with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting’s media units in Srinagar.
