SRINAGAR: Agriculture Production Department Secretary Nitu Gupta on Thursday reviewed the implementation of various agricultural and allied sector programmes being executed under the Union Territory Capex Budget 2026-27, NABARD, the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP), Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS), Jammu and Kashmir Competitiveness Improvement Project (JKCIP) and SASCI in Kashmir division.
The review meeting was held at the Directorate of Agriculture, Lalmandi, and attended by Director Agriculture Kashmir Sartaj Ahmad Shah, Director Command Area Development Kashmir, Director Planning, Agriculture Production Department, Director Finance SKUAST-K, Chief Agriculture Officers and other senior officials.
Officials said the meeting focused on the physical and financial progress of projects and schemes being implemented under CAPEX, HADP, NABARD and various Centrally Sponsored Schemes. Discussions were held on expenditure, targets, achievements and the status of ongoing interventions.
During the meeting, Gupta reviewed the progress of key projects and stressed the need for timely execution, effective monitoring and optimum utilisation of funds to ensure benefits reach the farming community.
She directed officers to adopt a result-oriented and farmer-centric approach, strengthen field-level monitoring and improve coordination among stakeholders for the effective implementation of development programmes.
The Secretary also reviewed the functioning of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Kashmir (SKUAST-K), the Command Area Development Department and the Sericulture Department, assessing their programmes, achievements and implementation challenges.
During the review, emphasis was laid on improving coordination between the Agriculture Production Department and allied institutions, promoting technology-based interventions, enhancing service delivery and ensuring effective implementation of farmer-oriented schemes.
Director Agriculture Kashmir Sartaj Ahmad Shah briefed the meeting on the department’s performance and progress under various schemes and initiatives, besides outlining measures being taken to accelerate implementation at the field level.
Gupta directed officials to ensure regular monitoring, timely completion of targets and stronger inter-departmental convergence with a focus on increasing agricultural productivity, supporting farmers and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities across the region.
