BARAMULLA: The body of a 27-year-old man who had allegedly jumped into the River Jhelum was retrieved from the river at Azad Gunj in Baramulla on Tuesday after a two-day search operation.
Officials said the deceased was identified as Mohammad Arif, son of Mohammad Sultan, a resident of Wushkura, Baramulla.
According to officials, Arif had allegedly jumped into the river at Azad Gunj on September 6, triggering a search and rescue operation by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF).
The body was recovered on Tuesday evening following sustained search efforts by SDRF personnel.
Officials said medico-legal formalities were being completed, after which the body would be handed over to the family for last rites.
Police have taken up further proceedings in the matter.
