SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir is likely to witness largely dry weather over the next two weeks, with only brief spells of rain or thundershowers expected at isolated and scattered places, the Meteorological Centre said on Monday.
According to the forecast, the Union Territory is expected to remain generally dry from September 8 to 12, although isolated areas may experience brief rain or thundershowers.
From September 13 to 15, brief spells of rain or thundershowers are likely at scattered places, particularly during the early morning and afternoon hours. The weather is again expected to remain largely dry from September 16 to 19, though isolated showers cannot be ruled out.
The Meteorological Centre advised farmers to continue harvesting apples, paddy and other agricultural operations during the period.
Meanwhile, temperatures remained moderate across the Union Territory on Monday.
Srinagar recorded a maximum temperature of 27.8 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 14 degrees Celsius, while Qazigund recorded 26.1 degrees Celsius and 12.2 degrees Celsius respectively. Pahalgam recorded a maximum of 23.9 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 10.2 degrees Celsius.
Kupwara registered a maximum temperature of 28.7 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 12.2 degrees Celsius, while Gulmarg recorded 18.6 degrees Celsius and 8.4 degrees Celsius respectively.
In Jammu division, Jammu recorded a maximum temperature of 32.7 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 23.2 degrees Celsius. Kathua was the warmest among the reported stations, recording a maximum of 32.9 degrees Celsius.
Kathua also received the highest rainfall during the past 24 hours with 21.8 mm precipitation, while Jammu received 0.2 mm and Katra 0.8 mm, according to official data.
The Meteorological Centre said no major weather activity is expected during the forecast period.
