SRINAGAR: A five-day NABL Assessor Training Programme on ISO 15189:2022 aimed at strengthening medical laboratory quality assurance in Jammu and Kashmir commenced in Srinagar on Monday.
The programme is being organised in collaboration with the Department of Clinical Biochemistry, University of Kashmir; the State Allied and Healthcare Council, J&K (SAHC-JK); and the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL), a constituent board of the Quality Council of India under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Government of India.
According to organisers, the training forms part of the Quality Council of India’s capacity-building initiatives under the “Gunvatta Chakra” framework and seeks to strengthen the medical laboratory quality assurance and accreditation ecosystem in the Union Territory.
The programme was inaugurated by Chairperson of the State Allied and Healthcare Council, J&K, Prof (Dr) Sabhiya Majid, and Head of the Department of Clinical Biochemistry, University of Kashmir, Prof (Dr) Tanveer Ali Dar. Prof (Dr) Fouzia Rashid of the Department of Clinical Biochemistry is serving as the organising secretary.
The training is being attended by medical faculty members and healthcare professionals from Jammu and Kashmir and other parts of the country, including representatives from AIIMS, Government Medical Colleges and other government institutions.
Officials said the programme aims to develop a pool of trained assessors and resource persons capable of evaluating government and private medical laboratories in accordance with NABL standards.
The initiative is expected to enhance laboratory quality, improve accreditation preparedness and support the adoption of uniform standards in diagnostic services across Jammu and Kashmir while contributing to the national assessor network.
