SRINAGAR: NITI Aayog Member Dr M. Srinivas on Friday visited the CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (CSIR-IIIM), Srinagar, and reviewed the institute’s work in scientific research, innovation, entrepreneurship and community-oriented initiatives.
Dr Srinivas was accompanied by Economic Adviser, NITI Aayog, Subhash Chandra Meena; Deputy Adviser, NITI Aayog, Dr Muniraju S.B.; and Program Lead, Atal Innovation Mission, Sumaya Yousuf.
During the visit, the delegation interacted with scientists, researchers, scholars, startup founders and institute officials and reviewed various science-driven programmes being undertaken by CSIR-IIIM and its associated innovation ecosystem.
The NITI Aayog team also visited the AIC-IIIM Bioinnovation Foundation, the Atal Incubation Centre operating at the institute, and reviewed its activities related to startup incubation and entrepreneurship development.
Officials briefed the delegation on the support being provided to innovators and startups through mentorship, technology development, institutional guidance and enterprise promotion.
Interacting with scientists and researchers, Dr Srinivas appreciated the research being carried out in areas including phytochemicals, medicinal and aromatic plants, floriculture and healthcare-related sciences.
He emphasised the importance of translating scientific research into technologies, products and solutions that can deliver wider societal benefits and contribute to economic and social development, officials said.
