 Eid Milad-un-Nabi observed across Bhaderwah, Kishtwar

JAMMU: Eid Milad-un-Nabi (SAW) was observed with religious fervour across Bhaderwah and Kishtwar on Wednesday, with devotees participating in processions and special congregations commemorating the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

In Bhaderwah, the main procession started from the historic Jamia Masjid and passed through the Old Bus Stand and Circular Road before returning to the mosque, where it concluded peacefully. People from different age groups participated in the procession.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Sunil Kumar Bhutyal, Tehsildar Bhaderwah, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Bhaderwah and Station House Officer (SHO) Bhaderwah reviewed arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of the event. The district administration also distributed sweets and chocolates among children taking part in the celebrations.

The occasion was also observed in Sarna area of Bhaderwah with religious gatherings and prayers.

In Kishtwar, thousands of devotees participated in religious programmes and a procession from Jamia Masjid to the shrine of Shah Farid-ud-Din Sahib (RA).

The procession was led by Imam Sahib of Jamia Masjid, Majlis-e-Shoura Committee head Farooq Ahmed Kitchloo, religious scholars and community elders. Speakers highlighted the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and emphasised the values of peace, harmony and brotherhood.

According to officials, the district administration, under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Kumar Sharma, put in place security and logistical arrangements for the smooth observance of the festival.

Rajya Sabha MP Sajjad Ahmed Kitchloo, Senior Superintendent of Police Naresh Singh and Additional Deputy Commissioner Pawan Kotwal were also present and joined the procession. They extended greetings on the occasion and appealed for peace, communal harmony and brotherhood.
