BJP felicitates J&K cricketers selected for Indo-Thai Open Championship

Jammu, Aug 25: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday felicitated three cricketers from Redhima Sports Club—Gaurav Majotra, Naman Sharma and Gurminder—on their selection to represent India at the Indo-Thai Open Cricket Championship 2026.

The felicitation programme was attended by J&K BJP president and Rajya Sabha MP Sat Sharma, along with party general secretaries Baldev Singh Billawaria and Gopal Mahajan.

Speaking on the occasion, Sharma congratulated the players and said their selection reflected the sporting talent emerging from Jammu and Kashmir. He said young sportspersons should be provided adequate opportunities, training and infrastructure to compete at higher levels.

Billawaria described the achievement as an inspiration for aspiring sportspersons, while Mahajan said the players’ selection recognised their commitment and performance in the sport.

Ajay Sharma, convenor of Redhima Sports Club, said the selection of the three cricketers was a significant achievement for the club and the region’s sporting community.

Co-convenors Lavdeep Pathania and Charanjeet Singh were also present at the event.
