Srinagar: Secretary, Transport Department, Avny Lavasa on Monday reviewed the functioning of the Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) in Kashmir Division, with a focus on service delivery, pendency clearance and enforcement measures.
During a meeting at the Civil Secretariat, Lavasa held detailed discussions with the Transport Commissioner, Regional Transport Officer (RTO) Kashmir, Assistant Regional Transport Officers (ARTOs) and other field officials on the department’s performance and key operational issues.
She stressed the need for timely disposal of pending cases, efficient delivery of citizen-centric services, stronger field-level enforcement and greater transparency and accountability in departmental functioning.
The Secretary directed officers to adopt a proactive and public-friendly approach to ensure that applicants receive services in a prompt, transparent and hassle-free manner. She also called for close monitoring of pendency, effective supervision of field offices and better coordination among officials to improve overall performance.
The RTO Kashmir and other field officers briefed the meeting on the functioning of their respective offices, challenges being faced and steps taken to enhance service delivery and enforcement.
Lavasa also reviewed the progress of construction of ARTO office buildings in various districts and directed officials to expedite the projects to strengthen departmental infrastructure and improve public services.
She instructed all officers to strictly implement the directions issued during the review and work collectively towards making the Motor Vehicle Department more efficient, responsive and citizen-centric.
