Srinagar: The Department of Handicrafts and Handloom, Kashmir, has urged artisans and weavers to encourage their wards to apply for the two-year MBA programme in Craft Management and Entrepreneurship at the Craft Development Institute (CDI), Srinagar.
According to the department, the postgraduate programme, affiliated with the University of Kashmir, is designed to develop professional skills in craft management, entrepreneurship, design, technology and marketing, with a focus on the handicrafts and handloom sector.
In a statement, the department said the government would reimburse the tuition fee of the course to eligible candidates. Applicants seeking reimbursement will be required to submit an income certificate issued by the competent authority.
The department said the programme aims to promote entrepreneurship and enterprise development in the handicrafts sector and encourage greater participation of the younger generation from artisan and weaver families.
Officials said efforts are also being made to create a support mechanism for students completing the programme to help them establish craft-based enterprises and generate employment opportunities.
The department has advised eligible candidates to apply within the prescribed admission schedule.
