Srinagar: The Government College of Education (GCoE), Institute of Advanced Studies in Education (IASE), Srinagar, on Sunday organised an awareness programme under the “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan 2026” as part of efforts to promote a drug-free society.
Organised by the college’s Nasha Mukti Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) Cell, the programme focused on creating awareness about substance abuse and encouraging students to adopt healthy lifestyles.
The event began in the college auditorium with introductory remarks by Prof. Bilqees Aslam, followed by the National Anthem and an anti-drug pledge administered by Prof. Altaf Shah Syed. National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers, students, faculty members and non-teaching staff participated in the pledge.
Principal Prof. (Dr.) Seema Naz, addressing the gathering, highlighted the role of educational institutions in promoting awareness against drug abuse and reiterated the college’s commitment to maintaining a drug-free campus. She urged students and staff to actively support the national anti-drug campaign.
As part of the programme, the college staged a skit coordinated by Dr. Irfat Ara Khan, Convenor of the Cultural Committee, highlighting the challenges faced by individuals after rehabilitation and emphasising the need for social acceptance and community support.
The participants also joined the nationwide anti-drug campaign through a live telecast of the national programme.
