Srinagar: Police in Awantipora have booked two “notorious” drug peddlers under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT NDPS) Act.
Police said Gulzar Ahmad Ganie and Sheeraz Ahmad Dar, both residents of Lidermar, Tehsil Litter, Shahoora, have been booked under the PIT NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority. They have subsequently been lodged in Central Jail, Kot Bhalwal, Jammu.
Police said that several cases have been registered against these “habitual” drug peddlers. They were actively involved in promoting the illicit drug trade by supplying narcotic substances to the local youth of Police District Awantipora and adjoining areas.
