Kulgam: MLA Devsar Peerzada Feroze Ahmad and Deputy Commissioner Kulgam Shahzad Alam on Wednesday visited the flash flood-affected villages of Dardgund, Bangdar and adjoining areas in Tehsil Devsar to assess the damage caused by a cloudburst that struck the area a day earlier.
The MLA and the Deputy Commissioner interacted with affected families and reviewed damage to houses, agricultural land, orchards and public infrastructure.
They were accompanied by the Tehsildar Devsar, Block Development Officer (BDO) and officers of various line departments, who briefed them on the extent of the damage and the relief and restoration measures being undertaken.
As part of the immediate relief response, the administration distributed cash assistance and food kits among the affected families.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned departments to expedite restoration of damaged roads, water supply and electricity infrastructure and remain on alert in view of the prevailing weather conditions.
The MLA assured affected residents of all possible assistance from the administration and urged people living in vulnerable areas to remain cautious.
