Srinagar: Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology and Environment and Tribal Affairs Javed Ahmed Rana on Tuesday met several Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) and a delegation of contractors, assuring them that issues concerning public welfare and development would be addressed on priority.
The legislators who met the Minister included Hilal Akbar Lone, Sajjad Shaheen, Irshad Rasool Kar, Pyare Lal Sharma, Saifuddin Bhat, Randhir Singh and Zafar Ali Khatana.
According to an official statement, the MLAs raised issues related to drinking water supply, irrigation infrastructure, flood protection works, road connectivity, healthcare, education and the timely completion of ongoing development projects in their constituencies.
Rana directed the concerned officers to examine the issues and take appropriate action wherever required. He said the government was committed to improving public service delivery and ensuring that development benefits reached all regions in a transparent and equitable manner.
The Minister also emphasised the importance of coordination between elected representatives and the administration, saying legislators play a key role in identifying local development priorities and conveying public concerns.
Later, a delegation of contractors associated with the Jal Shakti Department met the Minister and highlighted issues relating to pending payments and execution of departmental works.
Rana assured the delegation that its concerns would be examined and addressed in accordance with the rules, the statement said.
