BARAMULLA: Twenty-two-year-old athlete Ibadat Wali of Baramulla on Wednesday completed a 119-km solo run from Lal Chowk in Anantnag to the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Baramulla as part of the Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan, officials said.
According to the district administration, Ibadat completed the run in 10 hours and 55 minutes and is the first athlete from North Kashmir to achieve the feat.
The run was organised to spread awareness against drug abuse and encourage young people to adopt a healthy and active lifestyle.
On his arrival at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Baramulla Pranjal J. Hazarika congratulated the athlete and praised his effort in promoting the message of a drug-free society through sports.
He said such initiatives inspire youth to embrace fitness, resilience and positive values while reinforcing the objectives of the anti-drug campaign.
Later, former Municipal Council Baramulla president Tauseef Raina, along with the athlete’s coach, family members and friends, felicitated Ibadat in recognition of his achievement and his efforts to promote the campaign through sports.
