During the inspection, Labroo assessed the ongoing road widening and upgradation works, along with augmentation of the drainage network being developed to prevent waterlogging and improve stormwater management on the stretch.

Officials informed the Deputy Commissioner about the status of the project, execution timeline and measures being taken to minimise inconvenience to commuters during the construction phase.

Labroo said the project is aimed at easing congestion on the Eidgah–SKIMS Soura road and improving connectivity, particularly for ambulances and other emergency vehicles travelling to Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Soura.

He directed the executing agencies to maintain the quality of construction while ensuring that the project is completed within the stipulated timeframe.

The Deputy Commissioner also stressed the need for close coordination among all departments so that road upgradation, drainage works and allied infrastructure development are carried out simultaneously to avoid delays and repeated excavation.

He further instructed the officials to put in place effective traffic management measures during the execution of the project to minimise inconvenience to commuters.
