Srinagar: Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Akshay Labroo on Tuesday inspected the ongoing road upgradation works along Dr Ali Jan Road and directed the executing agencies to expedite the project to improve traffic flow on the busy Eidgah–SKIMS Soura corridor.
Accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner Mir Imtiyaz-ul-Aziz, Chief Planning Officer Fayaz Ahmad Dar, Superintending Engineer, R&B North Circle, Shabir Ahmad, Executive Engineer, R&B, Arif Hazari, Executive Engineer, UEED, Shabir Ahmad, Tehsildar Eidgah Mohammad Iqbal and other officials, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the progress of works on the 425-metre road stretch adjacent to Aali Masjid.
During the inspection, Labroo assessed the ongoing road widening and upgradation works, along with augmentation of the drainage network being developed to prevent waterlogging and improve stormwater management on the stretch.
Officials informed the Deputy Commissioner about the status of the project, execution timeline and measures being taken to minimise inconvenience to commuters during the construction phase.
Labroo said the project is aimed at easing congestion on the Eidgah–SKIMS Soura road and improving connectivity, particularly for ambulances and other emergency vehicles travelling to Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Soura.
He directed the executing agencies to maintain the quality of construction while ensuring that the project is completed within the stipulated timeframe.
The Deputy Commissioner also stressed the need for close coordination among all departments so that road upgradation, drainage works and allied infrastructure development are carried out simultaneously to avoid delays and repeated excavation.
He further instructed the officials to put in place effective traffic management measures during the execution of the project to minimise inconvenience to commuters.
