GANDERBAL: Police on Sunday recovered the body of an unidentified person from the Sindh Nallah in the Shatkadi area of Sonamarg and launched an investigation to establish the identity of the deceased and the cause of death.
According to officials, local residents spotted the body floating in the stream and alerted the police.
A police team from Sonamarg, assisted by local residents and the Zonal Officer for Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra duty, Mir Afaq Ahmad, retrieved the body from the nallah.
The body was shifted to the Primary Health Centre, Sonamarg, for medico-legal formalities.
Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation. Efforts are underway to ascertain the identity of the deceased. (KNT)
