SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has placed 539 Masters of the School Education Department as in-charge headmasters and posted them in schools across the Union Territory to strengthen school administration and academic functioning.

According to an official statement, the move is aimed at improving institutional leadership, addressing administrative requirements and enhancing the quality of education in government schools.

Education Minister Sakeena Itoo said the decision reflected the government’s commitment to improving educational standards and academic outcomes across Jammu and Kashmir.

She said effective institutional leadership was essential for strengthening teaching-learning processes, enhancing accountability and creating a conducive environment for quality education. The minister expressed confidence that the appointment of 539 in-charge headmasters would strengthen school administration and improve educational performance at the grassroots level.

Itoo also said the government had recently recruited 595 lecturers in various disciplines and posted them in higher secondary schools across the Union Territory to strengthen the education sector.

Reiterating the government’s commitment to upgrading educational institutions, she said efforts were underway to improve human resources, infrastructure and implement reforms aimed at modernising the school education system.

The minister extended her best wishes to the newly appointed in-charge headmasters and expressed hope that they would discharge their responsibilities with dedication and professionalism.
