Pedestrian killed after Tavera hits him in Kokernag

Anantnag: A 61-year-old pedestrian died after being hit by a Tavera vehicle in the Hiller area of Kokernag in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Monday, officials said.

The accident occurred at Bahie, Hiller Kokernag, when a Tavera bearing registration number JK19-0641 allegedly struck Abdul Majeed Bhat (61), son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat and a resident of Dehruna, while he was walking on the road.

The injured was immediately shifted to Government Medical College (GMC), Anantnag for specialised treatment. However, he succumbed to his injuries despite the efforts of doctors.

Police have registered a case and launched an investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the accident.
