Bandipora: A 10-year-old boy went missing after being swept away by the strong currents of the Kishanganga River while bathing in the Gurez area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Monday evening, officials said.
According to officials, the incident occurred when the boy was bathing in the river and was caught in the fast-flowing current, following which he disappeared in the water.
The missing boy was identified as Babar Bashir (10), son of Bashir and a resident of Sheikhpora, Tulail.
Soon after the incident, teams of the Police, Army and local volunteers launched a search and rescue operation to trace the missing child. Senior police officers are personally supervising the operation.
Police have taken cognisance of the incident and initiated further investigation.
