Poonch man shot dead in Saudi Arabia, family seeks Sushma Swaraj’s help to bring body home

Poonch, Aug 1: A 35-year-old man from Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir has been shot dead in Saudi Arabia on Wednesday.

While the accused has been arrested by the Saudi authorities, the poor family have no means to bring the body back home and urged the government of India through Ministry of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj to see that the body is brought to Poonch for last rites.

Zulfikar Ahmad (35) son Mohd Iqbal of Keri Gultha, Gursai, Mendhar, Poonch was shot dead by a Saudi Man on a tiff over some issue at Tareeb area in Saudi Arabia where he was working as labourer.

“We are very poor and we request the government of India especially Minister for external affairs Sushma Swaraj to ensure that body is brought to Poonch for last rites,” the slain man’s family comprising his mother, widow and brother told GNS.

Besides, Zulfikar is survived by 3-months old baby.

The family also demanded stern punishment to the accused and provide due compensation to them. They also demanded that pending wages of Zulfikar with the concern in Saudi Arabia be released in favour of the family. (GNS)
