Jammu: An alleged drug peddler was detained under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district on Thursday.
The detained person was identified as Rampuri, a resident of Ramnagar in Udhampur district.
Police said the action was taken under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, a sustained drive aimed at curbing the menace of narcotics and dismantling drug networks across the Union territory.
The detention order was issued by the competent authority and executed on Thursday. Following his preventive detention, Rampuri was lodged at a jail in Doda district, police said. (PTI)
