SRINAGAR: The Kashmir Champions Football League (KCFL), being organised by the Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council, continues to attract large crowds and growing national attention, emerging as one of the Valley’s most followed sporting events.

The league has witnessed enthusiastic support from football lovers since its launch, with spectators turning up in significant numbers at the TRC Synthetic Ground to cheer their favourite teams. The tournament has also drawn visitors from outside Jammu and Kashmir, many of whom have made time during their travels to experience the vibrant atmosphere and competitive football on display.

The fixtures scheduled for Wednesday were postponed and will now be played today at the TRC Synthetic Ground, Srinagar. The revised schedule includes Match No. 15 between Baramulla Strikers and Shopian Legends, followed by Match No. 16 between Srinagar United and Budgam Royals.

The growing stature of the league was reflected in the presence of noted sports personalities among the spectators. Among them were Dr Amit Samarth, Director of Tigerman Sports and Race Director of Race Across India, and Anshu Sharma, founder of Highland Sports India, a platform dedicated to documenting athlete stories and promoting endurance sports across the country.

Their presence highlighted the increasing recognition the league is receiving beyond Jammu and Kashmir and underscored the role of sport in showcasing the region’s sporting potential on a wider stage.

The Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council said the league is providing a strong platform for local football talent while promoting community engagement and strengthening football culture across the region.

With several key fixtures still to be played, the KCFL is expected to continue drawing passionate crowds as teams battle for top honours in one of Kashmir’s most exciting football competitions.
