Apni Party chief, delegations call on Lt Governor

SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday met several delegations and individuals at Raj Bhavan to discuss a range of public, community and development-related issues.

Former Minister and President of Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari called on the Lieutenant Governor and discussed matters of public importance.

A delegation of the Jammu Kashmir Pahari Welfare Society, led by its Chairman Zafar Iqbal Manhas, also met the Lieutenant Governor and raised various welfare issues concerning the Pahari community. The delegation submitted a memorandum seeking the strengthening of the Pahari Language Section of Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages and the reconstitution of the J&K Pahari Advisory Board.

Another delegation from the Nigeen Lake Conservation Organisation, led by its Chairman Manzoor Wangnoo, discussed issues related to the conservation and preservation of water bodies, particularly Nigeen Lake.

The Lieutenant Governor also met a delegation of the Fruit Growers and Dealers Association Shopian led by Shabir Ahmad Kullay. The delegation sought compensation for orchardists affected by the recent hailstorm in Shopian district and raised issues concerning the development and upgradation of the fruit mandi.

The members urged measures to improve infrastructure and facilities for fruit growers and traders, highlighting the importance of the horticulture sector as a key source of livelihood in the district.
