Addressing the gathering, Satish Sharma said yoga has evolved into a global movement for healthy living, transcending barriers of age, culture and nationality. He noted that regular practice of yoga helps reduce stress, improve physical fitness, enhance concentration and instil discipline, making it an effective means of leading a balanced and productive life.

The Minister said the government is placing greater emphasis on promoting healthy lifestyles among youth through sports, fitness and wellness initiatives. He added that yoga complements sports by improving flexibility, endurance, focus and overall physical conditioning, making it an important component of holistic development.

Describing yoga as a pathway to a healthy, balanced and progressive society, Satish Sharma urged young people to make yoga a part of their daily routine. He said that dedicating even a few minutes each day to yoga can significantly improve physical and mental health and help individuals cope with the pressures of modern life.

The Minister also called upon educational institutions, sports organisations and community groups to organise yoga sessions throughout the year so that the benefits of the practice reach every section of society.

Senior officers of the Youth Services and Sports Department, coaches, sportspersons and officials were present on the occasion.
