GANDERBAL: Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal Jatin Kishore on Sunday visited Markazi Imambara Dab to review arrangements for the holy month of Muharram-ul-Haram and inspect facilities being provided to local residents.
During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner held an extensive interaction with local residents, religious leaders and prominent members of Shia organisations to obtain feedback on civic amenities, assess local requirements and address public issues.
Community members appreciated the efforts of the district administration in improving public facilities while raising concerns regarding installation of street lights, availability of essential medicines, uninterrupted drinking water and electricity supply, repair of potholes on link and PMGSY roads, and adequate supply of cooking gas.
Giving a patient hearing to the public grievances, the DC directed the concerned officers to identify suitable locations for installation of street lights to improve safety and public convenience. He also instructed the Block Medical Officer to ensure adequate stock and availability of essential medicines.
The officers of the Jal Shakti and Power Development Departments were directed to address issues related to drinking water and electricity supply on priority, while the Rural Development Department was asked to improve sanitation and undertake desilting of drains wherever required.
Regarding the condition of roads, the Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned departments to carry out immediate repairs and fill potholes to facilitate smooth movement of people during Muharram.
The Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department was asked to ensure uninterrupted availability of essential commodities, while the Forest Department was directed to make adequate arrangements for the supply of firewood as required.
To strengthen emergency preparedness, it was informed that fire service facilities would remain available during Muharram processions to respond to any exigency.
The DC assured residents that all genuine demands would be addressed in a phased manner and reiterated the district administration’s commitment to improving civic amenities and accelerating developmental works in the area.
