Gusty winds swept Srinagar and some parts of Kashmir on Tuesday, causing damage to a few structures, as rains lashed many parts of the valley, officials said.
Rainfall activity was also reported from Shopian, Kulgam and Anantnag districts in south Kashmir, while parts of Ganderbal, including the Sonamarg-Baltal-Holy Cave axis, and the Pahalgam-Holy Cave route received showers accompanied by thunder and lightning.
In the Jammu region, parts of Ramban, Kishtwar, Reasi, Kathua and Jammu districts experienced rain and thunderstorm activity, the weather office said.
The high-speed winds caused damage to residential houses and shops in Sopore and other areas in north Kashmir’s Baramulla, they said.
However, there were no reports of any loss of life or injuries in these incidents, according to officials.
The river police evacuated the famous Dal Lake of tourists in time as the strong winds swept the water body.
Meanwhile, rains lashed the summer capital of the Union territory and many other areas of the valley.
