Srinagar: Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat on Thursday chaired a high-level security review meeting at Police Control Room (PCR) Kashmir to assess preparedness for Independence Day celebrations across Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting was attended by senior officers of J&K Police, CRPF, BSF, SSB and other security agencies, including IGPs, DIGs, district SSPs and heads of various police wings.
Reviewing the security scenario, the DGP stressed heightened alertness, intelligence-based operations and prompt response mechanisms to maintain a robust security grid. He directed officers to ensure effective deployment of personnel, enhanced area domination and close coordination among security agencies.
Special focus was laid on arrangements at major venues, particularly Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar, where the main Independence Day function is scheduled to be held. Prabhat directed officers to ensure smooth traffic regulation, adequate parking arrangements and hassle-free movement of people attending the celebrations.
The meeting also reviewed security deployment, intelligence inputs, traffic management, access control and anti-sabotage measures. The DGP instructed officers to intensify night patrolling and naka checking, especially at vulnerable locations and inter-district borders, to prevent any untoward incident.
He further called for strict adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs), effective surveillance and comprehensive route security arrangements at all venues hosting Independence Day events.
The meeting concluded with a resolve to ensure foolproof security and the smooth and peaceful conduct of Independence Day celebrations across the Union Territory.
