BUDGAM: Speaker of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Abdul Rahim Rather on Tuesday visited Neegoo Brenwar in Chadoora, the site of a recent fatal road accident, and assured an in-depth investigation into the incident along with measures to improve road infrastructure in the area.

During the visit, Rather met the bereaved family of the deceased school bus driver and expressed his condolences, assuring them of all possible support from the government.

Interacting with local residents and media persons, the Speaker said the government has already constituted an inquiry committee to investigate the circumstances that led to the accident. He said the panel, comprising engineers and technical experts, has been tasked with conducting a detailed probe and recommending measures to prevent similar incidents in future.

“The government will identify the cause of the accident and implement necessary corrective measures to ensure public safety,” he said.

Local residents apprised the Speaker of the poor condition of the road and raised concerns regarding road safety and inadequate infrastructure in the area.

After inspecting the road, Rather acknowledged the grievances and assured residents that the road would be upgraded and improved. He said necessary steps would be taken to strengthen the road infrastructure and enhance safety standards for commuters.

The Speaker’s visit comes in the wake of the June 12 accident at Neegoo Brenwar in which the driver of a school bus lost his life.

He said the government remains committed to addressing public concerns, improving infrastructure and ensuring accountability in the aftermath of the tragedy.
