Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir BJP on Sunday held a meeting of its legislators here to discuss the prevailing political situation, developmental concerns and issues affecting the public, a party spokesman said.

The meeting was chaired by J&K BJP president and Rajya Sabha MP Sat Sharma, along with BJP general secretary (organization) Ashok Koul at the party’s state office, he said.

It was attended by BJP national secretary and MLA Narinder Singh, and party general secretaries Sanjita Dogra, Baldev Singh Billawaria and Gopal Mahajan, among others.

During the meeting, the BJP legislators discussed various issues affecting the people at the grassroots level and expressed concern over the continued neglect of public grievances by the National Conference government, the spokesman said.

The MLAs also highlighted constituency-specific problems and developmental requirements, emphasizing the urgent need for timely intervention by the administration, the spokesman said.

Addressing the meeting, Sharma said the BJP remains fully committed to “safeguarding the interests of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and ensuring balanced development across all regions”.

He claimed that the “people of Jammu are increasingly feeling ignored under the present dispensation”, while several critical issues concerning infrastructure, civic amenities, roads, power supply, water availability, healthcare, and employment continue to remain unresolved.

“The BJP will strongly oppose any attempt to discriminate against the Jammu region in matters of development, resource allocation, or governance,” Sharma said.

He said the aspirations and rights of the people of Jammu cannot be compromised under any circumstances.

He emphasized that BJP legislators will continue to act as the strong voice of the people both inside and outside the J&K Assembly and will vigorously raise every issue concerning public welfare.

Koul deliberated on the series of organizational programmes from June 5 to June 21 under the nationwide campaign commemorating 12 Years of ‘Vishwaas, Vikas and Jan Kalyan’ under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He shared that the programmes include special outreach initiatives, plantation drives, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan activities, Pragati Path Yatra, Viksit Bharat Sampark Sammelan, Jan Kalyan Shivirs, International Yoga Day, exhibitions showcasing the achievements of the Modi government, workshops on natural farming, and several other public engagement activities.

He asked the BJP legislators to actively spearhead these programmes in their respective constituencies, transforming them into mass outreach campaigns.
