Srinagar: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Kashmir, of the Crime Branch J&K has filed a chargesheet in FIR No. 05/2026 before the Court of Judicial Magistrate 1st Class, Sumbal, against two accused persons for alleged offences of cheating and forgery.
The chargesheet has been filed under Sections 420, 468 and 471 RPC against Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, son of Mohammad Jawad Bhat, and Assadullah Bhat, son of Haji Ghulam Ahmad Bhat, both residents of Rakhi Shilwat in Bandipora district.
According to the investigation, the accused allegedly concealed their actual educational qualifications, falsely projected themselves as illiterate and secured altered dates of birth through fraudulent certificates. The alleged manipulation resulted in incorrect service records and enabled them to obtain unlawful extensions in service tenure.
Investigators stated that the accused consequently derived undue financial benefits, causing losses to the state exchequer. Following completion of the investigation, the chargesheet was presented before the competent court for further legal proceedings.
The Economic Offences Wing has advised the public to remain vigilant against economic fraud and report such offences to the Senior Superintendent of Police, EOW Kashmir, Crime Branch J&K.
