CISF jawan injured in accidental firing at Jammu railway station

Jammu: A CISF jawan was injured after his service rifle accidentally went off while he was waiting for a train at the Jammu Railway Station on Tuesday, police said.

According to officials, the incident occurred when the CISF personnel was at the railway station awaiting a train for deployment on Amarnath Yatra duties.

The injured jawan was immediately provided medical assistance. No other person was injured in the incident, officials added.

Police have taken cognisance of the matter and initiated proceedings as per law.

Further investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances that led to the accidental discharge of the weapon, they said. (PTI)
