The IGP first visited Lakhanpur, where he inspected the Yatra Base Camp, Langar points, lodgement centres and reception centres. He reviewed security deployment, CCTV coverage, access control mechanisms, frisking arrangements, traffic management and facilities being provided to pilgrims.

Later, a comprehensive security review meeting was held at District Police Lines (DPL) Kathua. The meeting was attended by supervisory officers, including SP SOG Jammu, Additional SP Kathua, SP Operations Upper Kathua, SP Operations Border Kandi Kathua, SDPOs and SHOs posted along the National Highway corridor.

During the meeting, SSP Kathua Mohita Sharma presented a detailed briefing on security arrangements, surveillance measures, convoy management, deployment of Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs) and emergency response plans.

Addressing the officers, Bhim Sen Tuti stressed the need for maximum alertness, strict adherence to security protocols and professional conduct while dealing with pilgrims. DIG JSK Range Shridhar Patil directed officers to conduct regular inspections of langars and lodgement centres and maintain close surveillance on suspicious elements.

The IGP subsequently visited Samba district, where Anuj Kumar briefed him on preparedness for SANJY-2026. A separate security review meeting was attended by senior police officers, supervisory officers and SHOs of the district.

The IGP emphasized close coordination among the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), intelligence agencies and the Punjab Police to ensure a safe and smooth pilgrimage.

During the meetings, officers were directed to intensify drone surveillance for real-time monitoring and deploy dog squads for anti-sabotage checks at vital installations, langars and lodgement centres. Emphasis was also laid on strengthening surveillance systems and ensuring swift emergency response capabilities.

The IGP further directed security agencies to enhance vigilance along the National Highway and border areas through round-the-clock domination, naka checking and area patrols. Instructions were also issued to expedite tenant verification and census drives and expand CCTV coverage at all key Yatra locations with 24×7 monitoring.

The review forms part of ongoing efforts to ensure comprehensive security and smooth conduct of the annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026.
