Srinagar: The Central Kashmir Excise Range intensified its crackdown on illicit cultivation of narcotic crops under the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan, destroying illegal poppy cultivation at multiple locations across the Srinagar-Budgam-Ganderbal Excise Range.

The operation was carried out jointly by the Excise Department, Police, Revenue Department and Agriculture Department as part of ongoing efforts to curb narcotic crop cultivation in the region.

Officials said all legal formalities, including seizure, sampling and destruction of the illicit crop, were completed on the spot during the drive.

A case has been registered under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act. Officials said FIR No. 16/2026 under Section 8/18 of the NDPS Act has been lodged at Police Station Lar in Ganderbal district, and further investigation has been taken up.

The Excise Department said the enforcement action reflects its commitment to eliminating illegal narcotic cultivation and strengthening anti-drug efforts under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan.

Officials added that similar drives will continue across the region to check the cultivation and trafficking of narcotic substances and uphold the rule of law.
