NEW DELHI: Cyber criminals are increasingly targeting job aspirants by creating fake recruitment processes, including fictitious interviews and suspicious verification requests, the government has warned.

In an advisory issued on Wednesday accessed news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS), authorities said scammers design entire fake hiring journeys, compelling candidates to complete unusual verification steps or share sensitive personal information under the pretext of recruitment.

The advisory urged job seekers to remain vigilant and follow due diligence before sharing any details. Key precautions include verifying recruiters and companies through official websites and email domains, exercising caution over unusual verification demands, and avoiding the sharing of sensitive information without proper authentication.

“Candidates should be wary of instant selection offers or any form of urgency tactics,” the advisory said, adding that a genuine job opportunity will never pressure applicants into revealing sensitive information without proper verification.

Victims of cyber fraud have been advised to immediately report the matter by calling the national cyber helpline at 1930 or logging a complaint on the official portal cybercrime.gov.in. (KNS)
