Leh: The fifth day of Ladakh Astro Week 2026 witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, astronomy enthusiasts and local residents during a series of expert talks, interactive sessions and stargazing activities.
The programme began with a talk by Stanzin Norlha, who explained various aspects of the solar system, planets, stars and celestial bodies in an engaging manner.
Another presentation was delivered by Dorje Angchok of the Indian Astronomical Observatory, who spoke about the nightscapes of Ladakh and the region’s suitability for astronomy and astrophotography.
He highlighted Ladakh’s geographical and climatic conditions that make it one of the country’s best locations for astronomical observations and stressed the importance of preserving dark skies.
An interactive question-and-answer session followed, during which participants raised queries related to astronomy, space science, celestial observations and astrophotography.
The programme also featured an astrophotography exhibition showcasing images of galaxies, stars, nebulae and Ladakh’s night skies captured by photographers and astronomy enthusiasts.
The day concluded with a stargazing session where participants observed celestial objects through telescopes.
