Srinagar: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education Sakeena Itoo on Thursday inaugurated the Post Graduate Research Programme (PGRP) Conclave-2026 at Government Dental College Srinagar.
Addressing doctors, academicians, researchers and students during the event, the minister highlighted the importance of research and innovation in strengthening the healthcare sector and improving patient care.
She said platforms like the PGRP Conclave provide young medical professionals and scholars an opportunity to showcase research work, exchange ideas and contribute towards advancements in medical science.
Sakeena Itoo appreciated the efforts of faculty members, students and organisers for promoting scientific inquiry and academic excellence through the conclave.
She said research-based learning is essential for addressing emerging health challenges and ensuring quality healthcare services for people.
“Doctors play a pivotal role in society and the profession of medicine is one of the noblest professions meant to serve humanity with dedication, compassion and commitment,” the minister said.
She urged young doctors and researchers to remain committed to ethical medical practices and continue striving for excellence in patient care and scientific research.
The minister also reiterated the government’s commitment towards strengthening healthcare infrastructure, promoting medical education and encouraging research activities across Jammu and Kashmir.
During the event, the principal of Government Dental College Srinagar presented an overview of the objectives of the conclave.
Sakeena Itoo also interacted with students and faculty members and released the newsletter on Research Conclave-2026.
