Anantnag: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday seized five vehicles involved in illegal mining activities during separate actions carried out in Anantnag district.
According to police, a team from Police Station Srigufwara intercepted and seized four tractors transporting illegally extracted boulders during naka checking at Srigufwara.
In this connection, FIR No. 49/2026 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Srigufwara and investigation has been taken up.
In another action, Police Station Utrasoo intercepted a tractor bearing registration number JK13E-4993 at Bosan Crossing carrying illegally extracted minerals.
Police identified the driver as Gowhar Ahmad Shergojri of Krad village.
Police said cognisance in the matter has been taken as per law and further action is underway.
