Srinagar: Police and Revenue authorities and Gulmarg Development Authority (GDA), carried out “decisive action against individuals involved in narcotics-related offences” in the Tangmarg area, a police spokesperson informed.
He said in a joint operation conducted at Ferozpora Tangmarg, a shop belonging to “notorious” drug peddler Imtiyaz Ahmad Mir of Ferozpora Tangmarg was demolished.
Similarly, North Wind Cafe, an outsourced property of the Gulmarg Development Authority (GDA), was sealed today by the Chief Executive Officer, GDA. The lessee of the said property, Yaseen Khanday, is an accused in an NDPS case registered at Police Post Wagoora, police said.
Meanwhile, police in Anantnag destroyed illegally cultivated opium poppy crops at two separate locations and registered cases under the NDPS Act against the persons involved.
A case was registered against Abdul Rahman Rather of Khudpora, Nowgam, for illegal cultivation of opium poppy on his land measuring approximately one Marla. The entire crop was destroyed on the spot, police said.
Similar action was taken against Abdul Khaliq Bhat.
Separately, police in Kulgam, along with Revenue authorities, retrieved kahcharai land measuring a total of five Kanals at village Oriel within the jurisdiction of Police Station Kund.
Land measuring one kanal ( Survey No. 182 min), was under unauthorized occupation of drug peddler Gulam Nabi Bhat; and land measuring two kanals (Survey No.142) was under unauthorised occupation of drug peddler Gulam Nabi Bhat; two kanals (Survey No.142 min) of land was under unauthorised occupation of all residents of village Oriel Kund who are involved in case FIR No. 15/2025 U/S 8/18 NDPS Act of Police Station Kund. The retrieved kahchari land has an estimated market value of approximately ₹60 lacs, police said.
