Srinagar: Police on Tuesday attached properties worth over ₹2 crore in Srinagar and Anantnag and sealed multiple medical stores in Anantnag and Sopore as part of an intensified crackdown under the NDPS Act and the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyaan.

In Srinagar, Police Station Nowhatta attached property worth around ₹1.20 crore belonging to Nisar Ahmad Sheikh of Hawal in connection with FIR No. 61/2019 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act.

In Anantnag, Police Station Srigufwara attached a residential property worth approximately ₹85 lakh belonging to Imtiyaz Ahmad Ganie of Shalgam in connection with FIR No. 72/2022. Police also conducted Narco Cordon and Search Operations (CASOs) at 20 locations across the district targeting drug networks.

Meanwhile, during joint inspections with Drug Control authorities, multiple medical stores were sealed for violations.

In Aishmuqam (Anantnag), three stores—Ibaad Medicate Chemists and Druggists, Bilal Raina Medicate and Ganie Medical Store—were sealed over discrepancies in record maintenance.

In Sopore, two chemist shops operated by Sameer Ahmad Dar of Dangerpora and Ghulam Hassan Dar of Sopore were sealed for violating provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.

In Bijbehara, M/S Standard Medical Store owned by Bilal Ahmad Dar was also sealed for failing to maintain proper records of scheduled drugs.

Police said legal action has been initiated in all cases and the drive against drug-related activities will continue.
