DC Ganderbal reviews preparations for Nasha Mukt Padayatra

Ganderbal: Deputy Commissioner Jatin Kishore on Tuesday chaired a meeting to review preparations for the upcoming Padayatra under the Nasha Mukt Abhiyan, stressing coordinated efforts and seamless arrangements for the awareness drive.

At the outset, the DC took a comprehensive review of arrangements for the event, which is expected to witness large public participation from across the district. He directed all departments to work in close synergy to ensure smooth conduct of the programme.

Detailed discussions were held on logistical and infrastructural arrangements at Qamaria Stadium, the main venue, and at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, where the culminatory event is scheduled. Instructions were issued for setting up a proper stage, seating arrangements and designated areas to ensure orderly participation and a secure environment.

On sanitation and hygiene, the Municipal Council Ganderbal was directed to install temporary convenience facilities and maintain cleanliness standards. The Jal Shakti Department was tasked with ensuring availability of drinking water through RO units and tanker services.

The DC also emphasised an efficient transportation plan, directing the Assistant Regional Transport Officer to ensure smooth movement of participants. Traffic regulation measures were discussed to avoid congestion and ensure hassle-free access.

For public outreach, the Information Department was asked to prepare awareness material and campaign displays to enhance visibility of the initiative. The DC stressed active involvement of educational institutions, civil society groups, youth organisations and other stakeholders.

Special focus was laid on participation of students and youth, with directions for their meaningful involvement. The DC said such initiatives are crucial for building awareness and strengthening collective resolve against drug abuse.

The meeting also reviewed arrangements for refreshments, healthcare facilities, power backup and other essential services, with directions to ensure all provisions are made in advance.

Highlighting the significance of the event, the DC said the Padayatra will serve as a platform to mobilise the community and reinforce the message of a drug-free society.

The meeting was attended by SSP Sudhanshu Dhama, ADDC Manzoor Ahmad, Additional Deputy Commissioner, CEO SDA, CEO WMDA, Additional SP, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Chief Planning Officer, SDM Kangan, Assistant Commissioner Panchayat and other officers, along with representatives of institutions and universities.
