Srinagar: The ailing father of Lok Sabha MP Sheikh Abdul Rashid was airlifted to New Delhi on Saturday for advanced medical treatment at the AIIMS.
“The father of Member of Parliament from Baramulla Rashid, also known as Engineer Rashid, has been shifted to AIIMS Delhi for advanced medical care,” said Inam Un Nabi, chief spokesperson of Rashid’s Awami Ittehad Party (AIP).
He said Rashid’s father, Khazir Mohammad Sheikh, who has been undergoing treatment at SMHS Hospital here for several days, was moved to Delhi following medical advice due to the seriousness of his condition.
Nabi said the family is hopeful that the specialised treatment at AIIMS will aid his recovery and requested people to pray for his speedy recovery during this critical time.
Rashid, who has been lodged in Delhi’s Tihar Jail since 2019 after the NIA arrested him in the 2017 terror-funding case, got a one-week interim bail from the Delhi High Court on Tuesday to visit his ailing father. He arrived here on Wednesday.
