Srinagar: It was a final packed with tension, drama, and a late turnaround as Baramulla’s U-19 team, representing Block Sopore, defeated Bandipora 2–1 to win the UT-level Classical Football League at TRC, Srinagar.
The match began on a cautious note, with both sides holding their defensive lines firmly. For the opening minutes, neither team managed to create a clear breakthrough. But in the 7th minute of the first half, Bandipora got their chance from the spot and made it count, taking an early lead.
Baramulla, however, didn’t let the setback shake them. They kept pushing, attacking with intent, but the equaliser just wouldn’t come. Time kept slipping, and it looked like Bandipora might hold on.
Then came the turning point.
With just four minutes left in the second half, a mistake from Bandipora’s defence handed Baramulla a penalty. This time, they made no mistake. The goal brought the teams level—and shifted the momentum completely.
Sensing the opportunity, Baramulla pressed harder and soon found the winner, completing a remarkable late comeback to seal the title.
It was a victory built on persistence and belief. The players showed grit throughout the tournament, and their efforts paid off on the biggest stage. Under the guidance of Coach Feroz Ahmad Paray, the team maintained consistency and composure, eventually bringing pride to their zone at the UT level.
For these young players, the win is more than just a trophy—it’s a reflection of their hard work and determination across the competition.
