GMC Srinagar holds annual road race from Duck Park to Nishat

Srinagar: The Department of Sports at Gandhi Memorial College (GMC), Srinagar, on Wednesday organised its annual road race for both boys and girls, drawing participation from over a hundred students.

The race began at Duck Park and concluded at Nishat, with Principal Prof. (Dr.) Masood Ahmad Malik flagging off the event.

In the boys’ category, Irfan Shafi (4th Semester) secured the first position, followed by Farhaan (6th Semester) in second place and Mohd Atif (4th Semester) in third. In the girls’ category, Syed Hooriya (8th Semester) clinched the top spot, while Umaisa (6th Semester) and Ulfat (6th Semester) finished second and third respectively.

The winners were felicitated with trophies during the valedictory ceremony.

Addressing the participants, the Principal appreciated the enthusiasm shown by students and underlined the importance of sports in maintaining both physical fitness and mental well-being. He encouraged students to make regular physical activity a part of their daily routine alongside academics.
