Srinagar: No security clearance shall be granted to individuals found to be associated with drug peddling or narcotics networks, SSP Anantnag has ordered.
He also said that in the verifications related to passports, government employment, contractor cards, and other character and antecedent checks, any involvement or links of an applicant with narcotics syndicates must be explicitly mentioned in red ink, SSP Anantnag has ordered.
A police spokesperson said that based on “reliable reports” and facts established during the investigation of various NDPS cases, it has come to light that “narcotic syndicates and drug peddlers operating in District Anantnag pose a serious threat to national security due to their direct links with terror handlers.”
These criminal elements are not only involved in unlawful activities but are also contributing significantly to the degradation of society by supplying hazardous narcotics and contraband substances, thereby endangering public health and disturbing social harmony, the spokesperson said.
He said in view of the grave threat posed to the security of the state and maintenance of public order, SSP Anantnag has issued strict directions to all field units, and ordered that during the process of verifications related to passports, government employment, contractor cards, and other character and antecedent checks, any involvement or links of an applicant with narcotics syndicates must be explicitly mentioned in red ink.
