Srinagar: Police on Tuesday attached a house worth Rs 1.5 crore belonging to an alleged drug peddler in the city’s Saida Kadal area.
“Continuing its intensified crackdown against drug trafficking under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, Srinagar Police has attached immovable property worth approximately Rs 1.5 crore belonging to a notorious drug peddler,” Srinagar police posted on its X handle.
Police Station Rainawari, acting under the provisions of the NDPS Act, attached the house along with land measuring 11 marlas (one marla =272.25 sq ft) belonging to accused Bilal Ahmad Patoo at Saida Kadal, Srinagar.
“The said property has been identified as an illegally acquired asset generated through proceeds of drug trafficking,” the police said.
Police also attached properties of two alleged drug peddlers in Udhampur and Reasi districts.
In Udhampur, police attached an immovable property worth Rs 20 lakh belonging to Rafiq from Jojrian Talab in connection with cases registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPD) Act.
During the investigation, police found that the accused had acquired the residential property on state land using proceeds of illicit narcotics trade, the officials said.
In Reasi, police attached a motorcycle belonging to alleged drug peddler Ajay Singh from Katra under the NDPS Act, they said.
Police said the accused was a habitual offender who was previously involved in multiple criminal cases registered at the Katra police station.
