The inspection focused on evaluating the construction progress and identifying the measures to accelerate execution.

The Minister also reviewed the local water supply scenario, highlighting the need to augment the infrastructure in view of future demand.

The concerned officials informed him that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) worth ₹3.22 crore has been prepared for construction of a tube well to cater to Chenab House and adjoining areas. The project is aimed at ensuring a reliable and sustainable water supply while addressing existing shortages.

Javed Ahmed Rana asked the concerned departments to expedite approvals and initiate work on the tube well at the earliest, ensuring quality and timely execution.

Reviewing the Chenab House project, the officials briefed the Minister on current progress, timelines and proposed facilities.

Spread over approximately five kanals, the proposed G+2 structure is being developed as a dedicated accommodation facility for the people from Chenab region, including Doda, Ramban and Kishtwar districts, who frequently travel to Jammu for education, healthcare and other essential needs.

The facility is expected to benefit the students, patients and their attendants, many of whom currently face difficulties in securing affordable and safe accommodation in the city.

Emphasizing its importance, the Minister said the project would significantly reduce the logistical and financial burdens on people from the Chenab Valley. He directed the executing agencies to maintain strict monitoring, ensure accountability at all levels and provide all necessary amenities to make the facility fully functional and user-friendly.

Once completed, Chenab House is expected to ease the hardships faced by residents of the Chenab region and strengthen support infrastructure for the people from remote and hilly areas, contributing to more inclusive regional development.
